July 15, 2007: The 4th of July vacation week helped launch a week's worth of activities to celebrate the official end of road construction and a new beginning for North Conway Village. More than one million dollars has been invested into improving the look and feel of one of New England's most scenic and historic villages. Nestled at the base of Mt. Washington in the heart of Mt. Washington Valley, North Conway Village now has brick paved sidewalks and crosswalks, vintage lighting on the telephone poles, eco friendly waste receptacles, new park benches, dozens of gorgeous flower pots overflowing with vibrant annuals, and a newly sodded central park. More than 3 years in the making, this partially federally funded, public supported campaign was conducted while both state and federal upgrades were being made to roadways, electric and, septic and water systems. The North Conway Village Preservation Project also sold sidewalk bricks to families and businesses wanting to help fund this project. With the completion of this project, the success of the North/South Road and increased use of Westside Road, traffic flows smoothly in and out of North Conway Village.
