13 million visitors expected in New Hampshire this summer
By Associated Press
CONCORD — As summer officially begins this weekend, New Hampshire tourism officials say they expect almost 13 million visitors will spent $1.6 billion in the state in the next three months. The months of June, July and August account for close to 40 percent of all visitors and 37 percent of visitor spending each year.
The state division of travel and tourism expects the number of overnight trips and extended weekend visits will be about the same as last summer, while stays at campgrounds, second homes and with friends and relatives are expected to increase two percent.
But officials are trying to boost those numbers by offering special deals on its Web site, including many that offer savings on high gas prices.
